Most of the adult teeth come out at around age 10-14, and therefore this time is one of the most commonly selected time period for full orthodontic treatment. The patient's adaptability and biological activity tend to make the treatment very effective at this age. The treatment finished at this age will also maximize the benefit of the orthodontic treatment by preventing the potential problems that can occur over the aging process. If there is a remaining skeletal problem, it is also the last chance that the remaining growth potential could be controlled or modified.

As the patient's growth slows down during the puberty, the skeletal relationship tends to become more stable, and the treatment also has more predictability. Therefore the patient also experiences the greatest satisfaction for the treatment outcome.

However, the patient's oral hygiene and dietary habit should be watched, since keeping the teeth in a healthy condition is one of the most important things throughout the treatment. Patient's compliance is also a critical factor for success, as the use of elastics would often be needed at the later stage of the treatment.
